    Key Innovators

    • Kevin S. Lu, Ph.D.

    • Dr. Lu is the principal founder of Pyro-E and an expert in thermal-electric technologies. With a background in thermal management systems, he oversees the scientific research and products development at Pyro-E. Recently, he had been a recipient of the federal SBIR program that sponsored projects centered on waste energy recovery and clean energy generation. Also, he is serving on the technical review board for the Ben Franklin Fund in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Lu graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2008 and he now holds adjunct professorship at Rutgers University.

    • Andrew Kennedy, MBA Finance

    • Mr. Kennedy is an entrepreneur with business experience in the clean energy industry. He has direct expertise with negotiations in Power Purchase Agreements with solar and wind installations. With a long family history of manufacturing, Mr. Kennedy has access to major metal manufacturers in the Philadelphia region. Mr. Kennedy attended Drexel University and acquired his MBA and MS in Finance.

    • Phani Meduri, P.E., PhD

    • Dr. Meduri has over 5 years of experience in product development and is an inventor of several patents in the Renewable energy industry. He is also an expert in the area of system design optimization for renewable energy power generation. He started his career by designing solar boilers for eSolar Inc. and subsequently managed teams of engineers designing and testing systems for solar thermal power generation at eSolar and AREVA. Dr. Meduri has a doctorate degree in experimental heat transfer and fluid flow from UCLA and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.

    • Samir M. Gharib, C.P.A.

    • A seasoned finance executive and C.P.A, Mr. Gharib possess over 7 years of experience in managing finance operations for small to mid-size pharmaceutical companies with complex operations and organizational structures. Mr. Gharib possesses exceptional knowledge and expertise in commercialization, operations, corporate finance and accounting, and business development. Mr. Gharib earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business, and is currently a first-year EWMBA student there as well.

    • Barry E. Scharfman

    • Mr. Scharfman is a domain expert in fluid mechanics and imaging applications related to energy efficiency, given his previous experience at Merck and Lockheed Martin. He attained a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a dual degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the Wharton School.
